Afroz Shah, a young Indian lawyer from Mumbai, is synonymous with the world’s largest beach clean-up project. And for the same has been honoured with 'Champions of the Earth award' by United Nations.
A project that started with a small team of two in October 2015, has inspired hundreds of volunteers to join him – from slum-dwellers to Bollywood stars, from schoolchildren to politicians.
So far, they have collected over 4,000 tons of trash from the 2.8 kilometre stretch of Versova beach.
